In action · Regeneration
Powering a town's revival: Clyde Wind Farm.
Delivered for SSE, in a community targeted for regeneration
The challenge
Opportunity alone never reaches the people who need it most.
A major clean-energy build brings real opportunity to a region — but opportunity alone never reaches the people who need it most. The communities around this project included areas of deep poverty, exactly the neighborhoods usually left behind when big infrastructure arrives.
The challenge was to make sure the jobs, the skills and the long-term benefit landed locally, and stayed local.
Make the jobs, the skills and the benefit land locally — and stay local.
What we did
A targeted program that turns a build into lasting community change.
01 · Reach
Recruitment from high-poverty areas
Deliberately reaching into the neighborhoods most likely to be overlooked, and bringing those residents into the opportunity.
02 · Train
A dedicated online learning portal
Scalable, accessible qualification delivery that put training within reach of hundreds.
03 · Anchor
A newly created Energy Academy
A permanent skills institution established in a town that needed it, so the capability outlived the construction phase.
04 · Connect
Pathways across the wider sector
Connecting trainees not just to one project, but to jobs across every related industry.
A single development, turned into an engine of regeneration.
The result
450 people trained. 413 jobs created across related sectors. A remarkable 4,235 qualifications delivered through the portal. And a brand-new Energy Academy left behind as a permanent anchor — turning a single development into an engine of regeneration for the whole town.
This program was delivered in the UK. With clean-energy and infrastructure dollars now flowing into American communities, this is the model that makes sure the jobs and the benefit reach local residents — not just pass through.
